About Us

Welcome to Birdwing Therapies!

In 2006 Keran Thomas opened her private social work practice Birdwing Therapies in Cairns, Queensland. Keran had worked in community agencies and government departments assisting children, teens and parents for several years whilst completing an Associate Diploma in Arts (Disability) followed by a Bachelor of Social Work.

After completing her degree Keran became involved with the Expressive Therapies Institute of Australia and completed two years of extension training with Mark Pearson and Helen Wilson in Expressive Therapies and Sandplay and Symbol Work. Keran is now a Senior Trainer for the Expressive Therapies Institute of Australia and trains students in the Certificate in Expressive Therapies for Children and Adolescents.
